1. The Reference Service
San Juan Capistrano Residents Directory is a privately operated reference. It describes and links to public rolls, indexes, and historical collections concerning San Juan Capistrano and California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with the city, Orange County, a state office, a court, a library, or another records custodian.
2. Acceptable Use
Use the pages and anything reached through them only in a lawful way. You may not use the reference to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm another person
- Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit fraud or identity theft
- Make FCRA-regulated decisions about credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or similar eligibility
- Scrape, copy, or republish the text at scale
- Disrupt the operation or security of the service
3. No Consumer Reports
The service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 et seq. Neither the text here nor a result from a linked tool is a consumer report. It may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or any other purpose governed by the FCRA.
4. Outside Links
Orange County portals, San Juan Capistrano systems, California agencies, libraries, Archives, and sponsored search tools operate under their own terms. The operator does not guarantee their content, availability, pricing, privacy practices, or result quality.
5. No Warranties
The pages are supplied “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that a fact, link, fee, coverage date, or external portal is accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from the reference or a linked resource, including an action taken from a record found through it.
7. Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable attorney fees, that results from misuse of the reference or violation of these terms.
8. Copyright and Quoting
The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected. A reader may link to a page and quote a short excerpt with attribution. Republishing a full page or systematically copying the content is not permitted.
9. Changes
The operator may revise these terms by posting a new version. Continued use after a revision means that the revised terms are accepted.
10. Access Restrictions
The operator may block or limit access for a person who violates these terms, abuses a search surface, or interferes with the service. That action may occur without advance notice.
11. California Law
These terms are governed by California law without applying conflict-of-law principles. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000-7931.000, governs access to many existing public records and includes exemptions; its 10-day determination provision does not turn this private reference into a custodian. California's Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, appears at Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq. and governs applicable business data practices. Those statutes do not authorize misuse of protected records.
12. Severability
If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
13. Questions
